I apologize for the delay in responding to this post. I saw the men’s 10K race this morning in Ostia, Italy and it was a classic race. Thomas Lurz was gutsy, winning a very tactical race only 24 hours after winning the world championship 5K race which was also a very tough race.
Around the last turn buoy with less than 650 meters to go, there were 20+ guys who rounded that buoy with a chance to medal.
Lurz won in a comfortable distance despite being the oldest competitor in the field. His double victory was incredible.
